Kyiv, which is located in North Central Ukraine, is a sight to behold. It has a population of approximately 3 million people, making it Europe’s ninth most populous city! It is thought to have been created in the 5th century as a Slavic hamlet that gained in popularity due to its strategic location on the trade route between Scandinavia and Constantinople.

Kyiv is become a major cultural, scientific, and industrial hub in Eastern Europe! I’m always in awe of how lovely the city is, especially in the summer. It’s fantastic and inviting! The Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, an orthodox Christian monastery that originated as a cave monastery in 1051, is one of the city’s most well-known attractions.

It is now a functioning monastery with over 100 monks and has been dubbed one of Ukraine’s seven marvels. The Motherland Monument, a 203-foot-tall stainless steel statue completed in 1981, is located right adjacent to the monastery. It’s a one-of-a-kind statue that looms above the city! Kiev is such a beautiful city, and I hope you all have the opportunity to visit there one day!

9. Chernobyl ( Visit Ukraine )

After that, we’ll visit the famed Chernobyl nuclear power plant! Chernobyl is about a 2-hour drive from Kyiv, near the Belarusian border, and is the site of the catastrophic nuclear catastrophe in April 1986, when a botched safety test caused a reactor to explode, resulting in the world’s worst nuclear disaster. If you’re looking for an excellent show to binge watch, I highly recommend HBO’s Chernobyl Series! Chernobyl was reopened to the public in 2011!

Today, you can join a guided trip to see the abandoned Chernobyl area. The town of Pripyat will offer you a true sense of what life would be like in a post-apocalyptic world. As you picture what it may have been like to live here before the disaster, you’ll be filled with a sense of eeriness and wonder as you walk through deserted buildings and an abandoned amusement park. What a strange site!

Following that, we’ll travel to the Carpathian Mountains. This has to be one of my favourite parts of the country! The Carpathians are a huge mountain range in western Ukraine that also passes through Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Romania! Brown bears, wolves, and lynx live in the mountains.

Despite the fact that the Carpathians are not as craggy as other European mountains such as the alps, they have their own charm, with large undulating mountains covered in dense woods. The Carpathians are a fantastic area to go skiing in the winter! One of the best times to visit these mountains, in my opinion, is in the fall, when they are ablaze with colour! I’d probably bunker up in a cabin someplace in these gorgeous mountains if I could live anyplace in Ukraine!

7. Palanok Castle ( Visit Ukraine )

After that, we’ll go to Palanok Castle. Palanok Castle is a distinctive shaped medieval fortification erected on a volcanic hill overlooking the city on the western side of the Carpathian Mountains near the Slovakian and Hungarian borders. The exact date of the castle’s foundation is uncertain, but it was first recorded in the 11th century, and the current fortress was constructed between the 14th and 17th centuries.

For defense, the fortress is separated into three sections: bottom, middle, and top castles! During medieval times, I would have felt comfortable here! You can take a tour of the castle and imagine what it was like to live here in the Middle Ages if you come.

6. Lviv & Pochayiv Lavra Monastery ( Visit Ukraine )

We’ll then travel to Lviv to see the city. Located 70 miles from the Polish border in western Ukraine. One noteworthy fact about Lviv is that it has 1500 cafés, making it the world’s city with the most cafes per capita!

I am completely enamored with the city’s architecture! There are so many lovely churches and other old structures, and the roofs are all so different and colorful. The region outside of Lviv has some remarkable castles, like as the Zolochiv and Pidhirtsi Castles! What a beautiful location.

Following that, we’ll visit the Pochayiv Lavra Monastery. This monastery, located about 2 hours outside of Lviv, is the country’s second-largest.

following the one in Kyiv! It’s colossal to say the least! The monastery was founded in 1527 and is now one of Western Ukraine’s most prominent religious sites. The golden-plated domes look fantastic against the green rooftops! What a fascinating location!

It began as a Polish fortification in the 17th century and has since grown to become one of the region’s most important cities! It is now a lovely city. I like how it includes a lake in the middle, which is wonderful for a hot summer day. The city’s central square is another fantastic location, with the Ratusha building in the center!

Following that, we’ll travel to Bakota! About a 2-hour drive from Chernivtsi, near the Dniester River. It’s a stunning location, with a big bay and rocky cliffs overlooking the river. The area is thought to have been colonised by Christian monks in the 12th century, who left behind cave monasteries with historic frescoes and paintings. Overall, I think it’s a lovely part of western Ukraine.

Another beautiful local attraction is the Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle, which I believe is one of Ukraine’s most outstanding medieval castles! It’s about an hour’s drive from Bakota, and it’s located nicely on a peninsula with a view of the town! The castle is thought to have been constructed in the 13th century.

The castle was subjected to various foreign attackers over the years due to its strategic location. I love the pointy roofs on the towers; it reminds me of a miniature Hogwarts. You may take a stroll around the castle and admire the medieval stonework. The castle is elegantly framed by the cobblestone bridge that leads up to it. It’s a fantastic medieval site that you must see if you visit Ukraine!

1. Crimea ( Visit Ukraine )

I’m not interested in politics; I just want to show the beauty of Crimea because it’s such a lovely location that deserves to be recognized! Crimea is a peninsula in the Black Sea. The shoreline, which is located on a peninsula on the Black Sea’s northern coast, reminds me a lot of the Mediterranean, with its rocky coast and vineyards. Simeiz is one of Crimea’s most picturesque towns. It’s a fantastic beach town with some spectacular rock formations along the coast!

The Genoese Fortress is another impressive location. Sudak is a little town with a lot of things to do. The medieval castle, which was finished in 1469 by the Italian Republic of Genoa, is a massive stone wall with over 14 towers. Crimea is a stunningly lovely region.

Bonus: Odesa ( Visit Ukraine )

It is now Ukraine’s third-largest city and a famous tourist destination! In the summer, it’s a fantastic area to visit and swim in the Black Sea! The Akkerman Castle is one of Odessa’s most interesting attractions. It’s uncertain when the fortress was built, but it’s thought to have been built by the Republic of Genoa in the 13th century. If you’re ever in Ukraine, you must travel to Odesa, which is a stunning and historic city.
